As more and more companies are seeing the direct link between ethical operation and profitability – what are the principles, benefits and impact of ethical business practices?

We’ll be looking through the lens of fashion to explore the impact sustainability has had on the industry, how businesses have adapted, and what we need to consider when we’re buying clothes.

Abbey alumna, and lecturer in sustainable fashion at the University of Westminster, Christine Hammand, will break down ‘what does it even mean?’. Nayna McIntosh is founder and CEO of Hope Fashion and has worked with huge brands such as M&S, Next, ASDA and Per Una. Nayna will share how sustainable fashion has grown and evolved during her 30 years in the industry. Then we’ll explore how local charities Smart Works Reading and The Cowshed in Wokingham are using sustainable fashion to support and benefit our local community.

The event will end with a dazzling fashion show. Showcasing styling from students across Reading, as well as featuring outfits from Smart Works and prom dresses from The Cowshed. A celebration of the impact sustainable fashion can have – and just how great it looks!

For a stylish insight into sustainability and working in the fashion industry, join us on Thursday 27th February.
