Our speaker for the annual Jo Trott Memorial Lecture was Professor Russell Foster CBE, the Head of Oxford’s Nuffield Laboratory of Ophthalmology, founder and Director of the Sleep and Circadian Research Institute and Fellow of Brasenose College Oxford.

His research addresses how circadian rhythms and sleep are generated and regulated and what happens when these systems fail as a result of societal pressures, ageing and disease.

Professor Foster spoke about his work and his latest book, the best-selling Life Time: The New Science of the Body Clock, and How It Can Revolutionise Your Sleep and Health.

This talk was of particular interest to GCSE and Sixth Form students interested in a career in science.‌

Mrs Jo Trott was a member of the Biology department at The Abbey for over 25 years and her family and the school hold this annual Biology lecture in her honour.
